About Me
Danielle Lyall studied at RMIT Melbourne, Australia and received her Bachelor of Arts in Animation and Interactive Media in 2013.
She enjoys illustrating and worldbuilding and when shes not doing either she likes to care for her pet rats and dabble in photography.
Creative statement
My own style comes from my love of animals and how they behave. I love not only creating realistic creatures but also adding in the extra details about their behaviour that really makes it as if these creatures could exist.
Recently I’ve been displaying my creature creations in an interactive format, which I feel is a entertaining way to display such things.
Learning and experimenting with new styles and techniques is very rewarding to me, though I’m most comfortable with a style that’s semi-realistic, sometimes rough and digital with either cel shading or soft ‘painterly’ colouring.
Natural history books and documentaries are a wonderful inspiration to me, as well as viewing sketchbooks and concept art from other artists.
When people see my work I like to think they leave with a keener interest in creature design or world building. I really hope that I can put across how much fun I have with creating my fantasy world ‘Liadan’ and inspire them to try it themselves.
